Thrift Store Shopping

ThriftStore1a

A few days after Christmas, my husband and I hit up the local thrift stores. I love rummaging through the aisles looking for a great find. We didn’t visit the thrift stores {or yard sales or flea markets} as much as I would have liked last year, so this year we’re making an effort to go more this year.

We started the morning with a trip to Starbucks and I picked a chai latte with soy milk. You can see my excitement above.

We picked up some Ball jars, a tie for him, a skirt for me, and my favorite purchase of the day was the antique teapot in the picture above. It’s now sitting on my bookshelf behind my desk.

    Gorgeous photos!

And I do have some old tea pots as well! I can not even rationally explain why I love them so much – I do love tea, but still – but they have something. I love just looking at them!

Unfortunately thrift stores are not that huge here in Germany. I love going to them in England! So much fun! Here there are only very few and it is hard to find great stuff. I am looking forward for the spring/summer as then there are flea markets here. Not quite the same as thrift stores – but still fun! :-)

Thanks Ursula! I know…it’s kinda hard to explain, right? I love old teapots, Ball jars, card catalog drawers, and vintage cameras…just because.

That stinks! Oh…I love flea markets. There are some really good ones in Richmond, VA where my parents live so we travel to visit with them and stroll the flea markets in the spring and summer.

Thrift store shopping is one of my favorite things to do. I love finding little “bits and bobs ” as Fred calls them to use in my jewelry designs. Then in the warmer weather when the flea markets open, Heaven! Great find on the teapot.

I don’t drink tea, but I love teapots. I still remember my Mum’s horror when I used her seasoned metal teapot for red cordial. Did not go over well.

Oh my gosh, I love Starbucks too. How is anyone supposed to begin their day without it? I collect mugs, and I like the apple mug you’re holding.

You look cute in your glasses. Do you usually wear them when you’re out? I wore glasses for more than 20 years until I had PRK surgery.

I didn’t end up buying that one, because I have a ton of mugs…but, I thought it was interesting.

Thank you! I wear my glasses sometimes and contacts sometimes. My contacts have been acting up though, so I’ve been wearing my glasses more often.
