Giveaway: Video Eye Makeup Essentials (CLOSED)

- April 18, 2018 | by April -

Remember last month’s blog post on my video makeup essentials?

I get that some of those items don’t fall into the inexpensive category–like the eyeshadow palette that costs $80.

Yep, that sucker is an investment, but it’s a justified expense when I use it every time I do my makeup, no matter whether I’m doing a natural look or a smokey eye for a date night, unlike other palettes that just sit in my drawer week after week.

But, I’ve played the ‘should I get it–should I I not’ game with expensive makeup. You don’t know if it’ll work for your skin type and tone. You don’t know if it’s really worth the money and hype. And, so on.

I want one of you to see how blendable and lovely these eyeshadows are…as well as get your hands on a couple other products I mentioned in that blog post. (Plus, I think random giveaways are fun!)

That’s why I’m hosting a giveaway for one of you to win the three products I think are essential for video eye makeup looks: NARS eyeshadow primer ($26 value), VISEART eyeshadow palette ($80 value) and Tarte Lights, Cameras, Splashes Waterproof Mascara ($23 value).

THE WINNER IS KIM JOY! CONGRATS!

Thank you sooooooooo very much to everyone who entered. I’ve enjoyed reading through all of your comments and am planning blog posts around a lot of these topics.

Kim, we’ll be contacting you within 24 hours to get your mailing address. Look out for that email.

To enter the giveaway, all you need to do is:

1. Be an email subscriber (on any one of my lists). If you got the email announcing this giveaway, you’re good! If you didn’t, you need to subscribe…anywhere…at the top of my homepage right here…on the sidebar of my blog…as you scroll through my blog and see an opt-in in between blog posts. Any opt-in box on my website will do.

2. Comment on this blog post letting me know something you’re struggling with in your business right now. It could be something as little as not knowing what webcam to buy or something as big as not knowing how to get your husband to support you spending time and money on building your business.

This helps me know what I should spend more time creating content (like blog posts) about.

That’s it…you don’t have to share this giveaway on social media. You don’t have to create a video of yourself hula hooping and hopping on one foot while explaining why you want to win or show me you really want it by plucking all your eyebrows.

Just make sure you’re on my email list and that you comment on this post with your current business struggle by Monday (April 23rd) at 5pm EST.

I’ll announce the winner RIGHT HERE on this blog post on Tuesday, April 24th at 3pm EST.

When leaving your comment below, make sure you use a valid email address. If you’re the winner, that’s how we’ll contact you to get your mailing address to send you the prize.

This contest is open worldwide. The decision is final. The winner has 5 business days after the announcement and email is sent to claim his/her prize.

I’m hardcore struggling with fear of rejection and the unknown right now. I need to go after new clients — I have the action plan to do it — but I’m scared to reach out and make the connections. Maybe some new makeup will help me feel like a Boss Babe?!

This may sound stupid but right now I’m struggling with getting a good headshot. Not having one is holding me back from launching my whole website. I also struggle with doing a little bit of everything and not actually finishing anything… i.e. my website.

First, I have to say that is an awesome idea to get great content ideas. Cuz who doesn’t love a free giveaway?!

So my current struggle is creating a really good opt-in for the home page of my website. I have one that I created when I first launched my site, but I know that I can do better. How do I come up with content really speaks to what my ideal client needs right now. Also, after I create the freebie – what are the best words to use get people to actually take action? Long description? Short one? Does it help to say “free”? I’m curious about all the nerdy science behind it…and real life case studies from your experience.

And then after my opt-in is all set up, I would love to learn more about the best way to go about setting up an automated intro sequence. What is a good standard template? When is it time that you actually pitch people to buy (or sign up for a discovery call, in my case).

I have questions that will keep you writing for days… Thank you, April, for all the hard work you put into sharing such helpful and in-depth content!

I’m struggling with what percentage of my budget to spend on ads, if I even should do ads & if so, which is the better deal: Etsy paid promotions or facebook ads? I’ve never done any paid things to promote my shop before but its time to test the waters & get to the next level.

I’m struggling to believe in my dream. Overwhelmed by life right now and using every excuse in the book to not take any step forward with my dream. I got sidelined about a year and half ago and can’t figure out how to re-start.

My biggest hold up is promotion and selling with courage but not feeling slimy. Even though I know intellectually that my services and products are valuable.

Awesome sauce – I love a good eye palette! The struggle is real with online presence and consistency. How the heck do you integrate social media with real life and not go down a rabbit hole of watching 32 makeup videos on how to glow like a greased chicken.

I’m struggling in two areas right now. One, is my website. The main pain point is mustering the creative juice to design and implement a good content layout. The second struggle is in potential customer outreach. Should I wait until my website is done or should I dive right in and start reaching out?

I thought I was building my confidence in reaching out until one company said they needed a head shot for their advertising. I literally spent the weekend having a meltdown and rejecting every photo that exists of me. Eventually had to take a deep breath and send the best of the bunch! I’m struggling big time over the pay someone .v. keep trying to do it alone on a whole load of levels. This made me realise that I need some professional help – at least a photographer!

Hi April trust you to think of a creative way to find our concerns and also content ideas. I am going to keep this in mind for myself for later, even if not the exact offer, but something fun and not directly related to my offers!
I opt out of the raffle though as my Asian skin may need other products and wish fun,
good luck to other resounding ladies.
My main concerns are all said above so there definitely is a pattern. I have broken mine down to two.
    1. Out reach/ email newsletter to be started ASAP. I am struggling with the database of old students – great record keeping of course 🙁
    Q.
Shall I start even with a few of them and add the others as and when? I will send a friendly personal email first to each person, or to each course group, and invite a response to add to the newsletters (I may call them a free email
English course – thus will later be my Opt-In too).
    Q2:
Which ESP? Active Campaign can grow with us and is full functioned like Ontraport etc but less expensive. So much better value than Convertkit. But more difficult.
So am considering going with Mailchimp and risking losing some members when I transfer.
You said you lost a lot when you changed from Mailchimp to Awber. Did same happen in change to Ontraport?
Is this unavoidable and to be taken in the stride or is it avoidable with better planning?
Should I start off with Active Campaign at once?
    2. Website
Even with Amanda’s short course WordPress has me tied up in knots and am considering cookie cutters with blogs that allow for WP migration later.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks a million April!

Great giveaway, April! My number one issue right now is that I’m questioning whether I should keep trying to build a business. I’ve been spinning my wheels for quite a while without seeming to make any forward progress. It isn’t that I don’t think I can run a successful business – I know I can – it’s the sheer number of things that need to be done to get started, and not knowing where to focus first.

First, this is a very generous giveaway. I still have the blog post on my screen because I love all your makeup suggestions and still want to buy some/all of them!

Second, my biggest struggle is sticking to my 4 hour daily commitment to create art. I’m following the sound advice from “The one thing”, and its making a HUGE difference in my practice, yet its still occasionally hard to stick with what I’ve committed to.

Thanks again April. ALWAYS love your posts. Cat

My biggest struggle right now is figuring out my opt-in. I am a stained glass artist and jeweler and just can not figure out what it could be. It is like deer in the headlights time. In June I am opening a physical storefront in Downtown Wilson NC and would like to have the opt in in place so I can capture more people that will follow my business through the website.
    Thanks

Maybe 3 stained glass designs to download & print on paper &/ or transparencies to paint themselves? If they thereafter get them made by you 10% off?

My biggest business problem is finding a balance. I struggle with mental illness. This limits what I can do, and when I go overboard, I make myself physically ill. So, I need to find the balance of moving forward (doing) without going overboard (doing too much).

Due to this issue, I end up never feeling like my business is really started. The whole thing is in a constant state of stop and go, it’s like a stuttering of my soul.

My struggle is that I get distracted easily from what work produces real results and don’t focus enough as I continually have new creative ideas I want to implement…. immediately! I spend too much time on projects that don’t generate revenue, such as my new opt-in (although it turned out pretty cool!), internet research, social media, etc. Isn’t it funny that I know what I should do to fix this, yet it is still difficult to do?!

I am really struggling with feeling stagnant in my business right now. I’ve hit a slump and the fog is so thick, I cannot see a clear path out. Somewhere in the depths of my mind, there is a tiny voice telling me what needs to be done, but I just can’t seem to steer the ship to the shore. I’ve never hit this type of issue in my business before, which makes it all the more frustrating and disconcerting.

I am struggling with expectations and guilt. Expectations around time and output – I’m starting my business to augment my life, not take over my life – but it’s easy to fall into the push-forward-faster trap. The end goal is a side hustle sized business anyway. The guilt is for everything my husband is doing and giving up in order for me to start my business in the first place. Inner demons, that’s my biggest struggle!
