April, you were fabulous at the etsy symposium! Thanks for the information.

Question: why so many videos? I like your writing style and I get frustrated by waiting for the videos to run–they frequently stop and start. Do videos help with marketing?

      Thanks Erika!

I do a mix of video and written posts, because I love having a multi-media site. Some people really love the videos–and some really love the written posts, so I create a mix. If you’re having trouble running the videos, press play and wait a minute for it to load, and then it’ll play through without problems. On my computer, they play straight through without a hitch–but my computer runs really fast. Also, I’ve just upgraded my hosting service, so the videos should load and play even faster by next week.

Videos can help with marketing. It’s all about what your audience really wants and connects with. Psychologically, videos develop trust with your audience much faster than written posts. It’s about having that “face-to-face” connection.

Thanks for all the ideas. I will look into the video thing. I am not sure about that yet. Maybe if my writing does not improve….:-)

      Hey Mary!

You don’t have to use video if you’re not comfortable with it. Do what works for you and your business. I recommend using video–but if that’s not the right thing for you, then do what works for you.

Hi April. This is something I’ve been stewing on. Not sure what my cookie is. I like the studio tour, but that would mean showing my lounge room! (Which I’d then have to stop creating long enough to vacuum and tidy LOL). You make it seem easy, with your carefree ‘just pick something’ attitude. Maybe I’m overthinking it. I’ll aim to have a few ‘more casual’ idea by Sunday night. Thanks!

      Hey Jeanie!

The “cookie” will definitely get you more subscribers, so in my opinion, it’s something that would be well worth a half a day’s worth of time or more. BUT, it doesn’t have to be! You could add something that you can easily put together and then change it later.

I just took a look at your site–you could add a list of your top 10 tips for accessorizing outfits. It would appeal to your target market, and it probably wouldn’t take you too long to write it out.

      Hope that helps 🙂

    G’Day April,

That was food for thought. Thanks for some great info. I’m reasonable new to promoting myself/ blogging/ twitter/etc.
Any advice you give me would be greatly appreciated, if you have the time that is.

    Thanks again.
