Wanna chat? FREE Sessions Tomorrow!

- July 12, 2011 | by April -

{Personal Image}

I’m really trying to plug-in to what you need from me and how I can make your life easier.

Basically, it comes down to this: You’re the reason that I blog and have this business, so I want to help you with your biggest issues when it comes to your creative biz. If I don’t talk to ya, then I won’t know what struggles and problems to help you with.

To get to know some of you even better, I’m offering FREE 25 minute consulting sessions tomorrow.

You might be thinking, “That sounds too good to be true. What’s the catch?”

The catch is this: I get to ask you some basic questions about what you’re struggling with in your creative business. That’s it. In return, you get to pick my brain and ask me creative biz related questions for the rest of the time.

Before you sign up, you need to know that we’re gonna chat via Skype, so if you don’t have a Skype account and don’t feel like learning how to use it before tomorrow, don’t sign up {FYI, Skype is pretty easy to use and FREE}. The sessions will take place tomorrow between 9am and 6pm EST.

If this sounds like something you want to get in on, leave a comment below answering this question: “What is your biggest frustration in your creative business right now?” Make sure that you use your actual email address, because I’m going to email the first 10 people who respond and send you to my calendar to sign up for your slot. First come, first served.

Sorry, the slots are filled! I’ll be emailing the first 10 people in the next hour.

    Good morning frustration.

My biggest frustration is trying to increase traffic to my Etsy page. I have taken better pictures, started a FB group and about a week and a half ago I started a blog. I have had an Etsy store for a year now and I am constantly reading articles on how to improve. I am seeing growth but I would like to see more. I am been able to get other revenue streams and the worksheet you and Mayi created was helpful with that.

I’m curious about how to be a blogger that people will want to read. I’m still sorting through who my audience – fellow paper crafters, handmade biz folks or potential customers.

That’s a short spill on my challenges. I look forward to talking to you take care.

    Yours Sincerely
    Chasity

That was not supposed to say Good morning frustration. It was supposed to say April. Sorry. Guess that’s what I get for staying up until 2 a.m. 🙂

    Hi April!
Thanks for this opportunity, I get so much from your blog already and would love to talk to you about some of the things I struggle with in my creative business!
The biggest frustration I have in my business right now is time management and especially figuring out what the most important thing to focus on is, on any given day! I get overwhelmed by my to-do lists!!

    Have a great day!!

This is my frustration exactly. Compounded by the fact that I need my day job.

My greatest challenge is getting things done. I tend to mull over thongs asking if it’s perfect, wondering if it looks and sounds right instead of just doing it. It’s not that I dont want to but after all the deliberating my daughter cries or it’s dinner time and that’s it – undone.

    Hi April!

    Thanks for the awesome offer!
I’Ve been very frustrated lately because firstly, i can’t manage my time. I’ve been in holidays in France to visit my family for one month and since i’ve come back, i took back my day job, and it is super hard to balance that.
Also, finding my own voice and style in blogging is rather hard, and keeping links with customers and potencial buyers is also terrible…
Maybe i don’t see the efforts and the little success i’ve accomplished so far but it is still hard for me.
    So here’s for me!
    Thanks for reading me 🙂
    Have a lovely day

    Hi April!

My biggest frustration right now is trying to fit in all the aspects of having a creative business. I feel like I need help structuring my time so that I have time to start and keep up a blog, tweet, FB, take photos, post new items, oh and make jewelry! I also want to “clean up” my Etsy shop and make it more visually appealing.

    Thanks!

My greatest frustration – something unusual! – is time management – organising my time, priortising tasks, and avoiding/delaying those tasks that are necessary but that I find challenging.

I would love to chat! My biggest frustration is not having the courage to start marketing my shop. I have analysis paralysis and am totally afraid of rejection. I would love help moving beyond this.

    Hey April,

First of all, thanks for such an awesome opportunity! Second of all, ACK!!! My biggest frustration right now is having to start all over again. I was making plush but after learning more about CPSIA and seeing where it’s heading in the next few months I realized I just couldn’t keep up with it. So I scrapped that idea (now have a ton of plush all over my house with no homes, so sad) and am going to start over with photography. Which, according to everyone (including my heart) I should’ve done in the first place. However, it’s a completely different market than plush and everyone seems to think they can take good pictures. Quite a few people can. I’m trying to figure out how I can stand out from the crowd. I have a few ideas, I’m just not sure how to put them into practice, or if they’re even good ones. I would love to bounce those ideas off you and get some input!
    Thanks again!
    Dani

PS I have Skype but my webcam died. So it’d be voice only if we chatted. If that’s not going to work that’s fine. Kinda miffed about the webcam…

My greatest frustration is developing my business plan for future growth. Every spare minute I have (since I also have a day job) is spent making and selling my one-of-a-kind products. I have all these great avenues I’d like to take my business in but I tend to focus on keeping my inventory up at the end of the day planning for the future is a daunting task.

I think my biggest business challenge is how to sell the products that have been sitting around not selling for too long. Do they need better listings/pics? Is the price wrong? Should I try a sale? They haunt me. Sometimes the haunting begins when they’re new and I start wondering if this particular piece will be one of the unsold ones. Other things are selling right along and I move in their direction because they are “what works” but what do I do with those things that didn’t work?

    Thanks April!

Thanks for this amazing opportunity! My biggest frustration right now is choosing which direction to take my creative business. I had been making eco-friendly clothing, but I seem to be sort of burned out with that. In the meantime I have started making upcycled frame purses, and while I think I have some unique ideas, so many people make purses that I’m just not sure I should go in this direction. I seem to be having a creative crisis! I’ve been avoiding my Etsy store and my inventory has run down…I think I could really use a little help! 🙂

    Hi April
my biggest frustration is myself, I have not got things off the ground yet but have so many constant doubts that I am not good enough and that it will never work yet I cant think of anything that would make me happier and the questions of where to start- is Etsy the best place or folksy
or somewhere else?? How do you ever get noticed amongst so many talented creative artists!

Hope its a beautiful day for you.

Hi April! I know all of the slots have filled already, it was just TOO good of an offer to stay up here long! But if someone can’t make it tomorrow, I’d love to be an alternate!

My biggest frustration right now is promoting my custom business to friends and family. I design and print educational art prints, however, I am a graphic artist by trade, so I can design anything for my customers (ex: invitations, programs, calling cards, etc.). But my friends never think of asking me to design for them until it’s too late and they’ve already ordered generic invitations from an online source. Help!?

I’m so dissappointed this was being held during the day. I hope you do another one in the evening for those of us who have full time day jobs. (hint, hint).
My biggest frustration is trying to take good photos and get them up on the site.

    Hi April,
I took your blogging course and have never been able to access the thing to
listen to it again. I didn’t want to sign up to ask you that. I know what I need to
do..start a blog, and your advise was GREAT..I would just like to find it again
so I can improve my notes. My biggest questions that I can not find in my notes
are which was the blog type that you recommended most, and what is the order
of stuff you suggest on the right side of the blog. I think I got a lot of the other
stuff.. (still wouldn’t mind listening to the session again).

      Hey Bobbie,

When you first signed up, you received an email with log in information that included the link and your username and password. I’ll send you an email about it 🙂

As for your questions, I suggest WordPress.org for your blog. And, the biggest thing that I recommend for your sidebar is making sure that your email newsletter opt-in is the first thing and that it’s noticeable. Don’t put anything on your sidebar that you don’t want your readers to get distracted by–no clutter. You can see the kind of stuff that I like on a sidebar by taking a look at mine.
