Watch the video below for an introduction to this post and to learn why I’m featuring Lindsay for Follow Friday:
Mini Interview: Lindsay discusses the inspiration behind her paintings, engaging your blog readers, and pitching your products and guest posts to other bloggers.
1. I’m loving your colorful and fun paintings. Where do you get the inspiration for them?
Thanks April! I looove color! I get my inspiration from my paintings in the bright colors I see around me — the colors of plumerias in the trees in my backyard, the shelves of bright nail polish at the drugstore, the surfboards riding the waves at the beach. I love gathering vibrant colors from my surroundings and translating them into paintings.
2. It’s obvious that people really enjoy your blog. Can you share any advice for bloggers who want to get their readers more engaged and leaving comments?
One of the best things you can do to get readers engaged in your blog to to engage with them. Ask them questions in your blog posts, respond to their comments and visit their blogs. Leaving sincere comments on other blogs is also a great way to gain new readership and meet inspiring people!
3. I assume that you get a good number of pitches from creative entrepreneurs who’d like you to feature their products. Can you share your top tip for pitching a feature, interview or guest post to another blogger?
Make it personal. If you don’t already have a connection with the person you are pitching, create that connection. Use their first name and be sure to spell it correctly. Introduce yourself and explain why you would love to work with them. Ditch the mass email and write directly to them, even if it takes a little more time. You always risk rejection when you put yourself out there, but you never know unless you ask!
