Do you make videos for your website or blog? If not, you’re not allowed to judge.
If you do, don’t you hate it when something interrupts your taping over and over and over? This video took WAY too many takes, because:
1. A loud bird keptย squawkingย in the background. It’s lucky I’m vegan and don’t hurt animals cause I had some not-so-nice thoughts.
2. The tiny dog from three houses away that has the highest, most horrific bark decided to escape and stand right outside our yard and bark like crazy.
3. My dogs got all stirred up by the little dog.
4. My husband thought this was all soooooooooooooo funny and kept poking fun at me. And, he kept making faces that would completely distract me.
So, I had a mini meltdown over a video. I know. I’m not proud of it, but it happened. So, I thought I would share my mini meltdown with you for this week’s entertainment time. You’ll have to watch to end to see it.
Want a recap of the video?
Make things that you don’t really enjoy but need to do anyways more fun by adding something to them. For example, indulge in a gourmet cup coffee if you get up early to work on your creative business or listen to a book on tape as you fold laundry. When you make things more enjoyable, you’re more likely to do them and you’ll feel more refreshed and energized.
Before you go, I’ve got two important reminders:
1. This is the last week that you can register for RoadMap, because there is a week long homework assignment that must be finished before you start the course on December 5th. So, if you want in, get on it!
2. I put together a FREE 4-Day Training on How to Make a Big Change that is only available until November 28th. If you want to make a big change for 2012, check it out.
hehehe..I cracked up reading the first 4 points on this post ! anyway, thanks for sharing your ideas on how to make things more enjoyable.
The most non fun stuff for me are cleaning and washing dishes. I listen to music and liven it up a bit. Gets over in no time ๐
I , also, liked your meditation at the end of the video…nice touch !
Glad you got a laugh out of it ๐
I listen to my book on tape or listen to music when I’m doing dishes–makes the time so much more enjoyable.
i was just about to log off my mail when i saw your video-well done!! you have a talent for speaking to a video camera! thats hard to do!!
thats so true april, i have to say the least part i like about having to clean up our spaces is the fact of the THOUGHT OF ITSELF!! that it HAS to be done! so i don’t think about it anymore….
i just do it in sections so it doesn’t feel like a big load to do and do this often. people would be surprised at how easy it is to maintain a clean home rather that a dirty one! soooo much easier!
With it comes music and singing ….stopping starting…..coffee/tea breaks, interruptions and all the lovely things that happen in life!! cheers
Thank you Annette! I really appreciate that.
Not thinking about it and just doing it–good tip! I also split things up into sections most of the time.
Oh honey, if that’s a meltdown, don’t EVER come around me when I’m stressed! You melting down was me on a good day. ๐ Very well done, and I agree with the other commenters that you do a fabulous job on camera. Love all your tips and hope to participate more in some of your workshops, etc. in future.
Well, I can’t show much more than that or what will you think of me ๐
Thank you so much Nicole! Glad you enjoyed it.
I love this idea of making things more fun! When i clean house — I only clean 30 minutes at a time and I listen to the Squirrel Nuts Zippers (fast paced). I imagine myself like a zippy squirrel gathering nuts and prepping for the winter. Call me nuts but it makes me giggle! ๐
I am deciding to listen to my fave NPR shows when I am listing my items on Etsy! ๐
Also, when we accomplish things, I don’t think we celebrate enough — I maybe adding a happy dance at the end of big tasks!
Happy Turkey Day! ๐
Thanks for sharing Alicia! We definitely should celebrate the accomplishment of tasks more often. I usually turn on pandora and dance around for a song or two to get my body moving.
Happy Thanksgiving!
This is such great advice! When I used commute 45 minutes to and from work, I would arrive at work or home tired, agitated and angry until, like you, I made it more enjoyable. I started listening to podcasts in the car and the time would fly by and I’d hardly notice the crazy traffic around me. I now try to do the same around the house to help me get through those tedious jobs. April, you couldn’t have better advice on this one.
Thanks for sharing Susan! It makes such a big difference, doesn’t it?
hey April,
What tea is that? You made it sound so yummy! And what do you eat for breakfast?
The tea is made by Harney and Sons {you can get it at most Barnes and Noble stores} and it’s the green tea with coconut and ginger. Soooooooo good!
We eat a few different things, but our favorites right now are: 1. Gluten-free oatmeal with canned pumpkin, raisins, walnuts, and a touch of brown sugar 2. Tofu scramble with spices, peppers, and spinach. The recipe for the tofu scramble comes from the happy herbivore: http://happyherbivore.com/
