Pumpkin Patch: I Love the Ugly Ones

- October 22, 2012 | by April -

I’m a sucker for pumpkins. For our autumn wedding, we wrote the guests’ names and their table numbers on real mini pumpkins to serve as the place cards.

This past weekend, my husband indulged my love for pumpkins by driving me and mother-in-law to the pumpkin patch. We spent the afternoon selecting pumpkins, sipping apple cider, and enjoying a hay ride.

My husband picked out the sweater I’m wearing in these pictures. I’d given up on finding anything I loved when shopping in Ann Taylor LOFT the other day, and he discovered this sweater and encouraged me to try it on. It was the only thing I ended up buying. He’s got good taste.

It was my mother-in-law’s birthday! Later that night, we cooked her dinner–which included pumpkin bread chocolate chip cookies. Sounds delicious, doesn’t it? Later this week, I’ll be sharing that recipe with you.

I realized that I adore the ugly pumpkins, especially the ones with popcorn-looking things growing on them. I’m also enamored by the white and light bluish-gray ones.

My husband balancing all the pumpkins I picked to decorate our home.

Fun and a cute sweater! My husband and I went to a Pumpkin Carving Party this weekend. There was even a scavenger hunt to see who could win the biggest pumpkins to carve.

Funky looking pumpkins scare me! They look like alien blobs who will jump up and eat you if you get too close. I swear, I’m sure it’s happened before… 🙁

That’s a beautiful golden sweater. My husband picks out stuff for me to try on too.

I find these photographic ‘slice of life’ posts to be refreshing! But also refreshing to me because it reminds me that I can chill out on the template writing. Love the pics and yes, the sweater is great!
