I get an instant headache from synthetic fragrances. Walking through the perfume aisle at a department store induces nausea, and I’m liable to clock someone who decides to spritz me with some fake flowery scent without my consent {just kidding–well, kinda}.
Anyways, that’s why I like making my own dryer sheets with 100% lavender essential oil. It doesn’t help with static cling, but it does add a little heavenly scent to your clothes. It also fills our house with a light lavender scent.
It’s super simple. All you need is a wash cloth and lavender essential oil. Dampen the wash cloth and then sprinkle eight to ten drops of the essential oil around the wash cloth. Add it to your wet clothes in the dryer and dry.
Wonderful post! Thank you for sharing your laundry “recipe.” We don’t use any products in our massage and healing oils that aren’t straight from nature – synthetic fragrances have no home here. =) We’d love to see more posts with natural recipes and the like, so keep up the great work (and photography)!
No problem! I’m with ya! 🙂
I like fragrances, but mostly on other people. When I wear perfume, I prefer scents that smell like apples, grass, clean clothes, or other fresh scents. I like the idea of infusing your clothes with a lavender scent. Not too floral, not too overpowering.
More DIY home tips please!
Yes, it can’t be overpowering for me!
More will be coming your way… 🙂
We don’t seem to have dryer sheets here in Oz. heard about them on US blog sites. Love your idea and am going to try it out. I have an orange blossom oil that would be divine. Might try it with just my clothes though. Hubby might not be too happy if I sent him off to work smelling pretty!
It’s not a powerful scent. I use it for my husband’s clothes, too and they just smell a little nicer. No one has said anything and he doesn’t think it smells girly. 🙂
