Cookbook Review: Crazy Sexy Kitchen by Kris Carr and Chef Chad Sarno

- February 10, 2013 | by April -

CSK1

I’m a Kris Carr fan. Thanks to her book, Crazy Sexy Diet, I realized that I was allergic to gluten and my life has been much better for it. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her latest book, Crazy Sexy Kitchen. My husband and I spent a few weeks testing recipe after recipe, and while we did make some of our own adjustments, we found some new favorite juices and dishes in this cookbook.

Who’s it for?

Anyone looking to eat healthier and introduce more plant-based dishes into their daily lives. And, of course, it’s a perfect addition to any vegan cookbook collection. Many of the recipes are gluten-free and the ones that aren’t can be easily adapted as my husband and I realized while testing out some recipes.

Who’s it not for?

Stubborn, picky eaters who hate veggies and eat animal products at every meal. Yes, I’m talking to you, Mr. I gotta have my bacon and eggs. But, if you are one of these people, Kris Carr knows how to make a veggie taste extra good.

My Favorite Dish:

This is a tough one, because I fell in love with so many of the recipes…but, if I had to choose, I’d pick the greens and berries salad pictured above. Who knew a salad could be THAT delicious? I asked my husband to stop and pick up berries on his way home from work three days in a row, because I couldn’t get enough of this salad.

The Not-So-Awesome Parts:

I didn’t dislike any of the dishes we tried, and we tested a bunch. My husband and I did make some adjustments. For example, the chai tea latte pictured above was waaaaaay too spicy for both of us and we’re both spice lovers. That’s saying something. But, once we reduced the amount of spices added, it tasted downright yummy. And, unlike a lot of vegan cookbooks, this one is very easy to follow. I know this is the complaint section of the review, but I just don’t have many!

I loved Crazy Sexy Diet, and this one is on my list to buy (that is if my hubs doesn’t get it for my bday next week). The vegan sushi looks amazing.

An outstanding share! I’ve just forwarded this onto a
colleague who has been conducting a little research
on this. And he actually bought me breakfast due to the fact that I stumbled
upon it for him… lol. So allow me to reword this….
Thank YOU for the meal!! But yeah, thanks for spending some time to discuss this matter here on your site.
