Every once in a while, it’s nice to laze about and sip a cocktail on a Sunday afternoon. And, Sunday afternoons make me think of tea and lemonade. Add some bourbon for a little kick and you’ve got the perfect cocktail for a spring weekend, don’t you think?
Ingredients: Maker’s Mark, Lemonade, Tea {sweetened or unsweetened–whatever you prefer}, Lemon {cut into slices}, Agave, and Sugar
Directions: Rim the glass with agave and then dip into the sugar. Add a few ice cubes, a lemon slice, two more ice cubes, and another lemon slice. In a pitcher, combine 1/3 Maker’s Mark, 1/3 lemonade, and 1/3 tea and stir. Pour into your glasses and enjoy.
For those of you allergic to gluten: Most bourbons are made from some combination of these ingredients: corn, barley, rye, and wheat. I haven’t consumed any bourbon since figuring out that I am allergic to gluten. It’s a highly debated topic in the celiac community. Most people with celiac or gluten-sensitivity don’t react to distilled alcohol made from gluten grains, but a small minority do react. That’s why I’ve stayed away from it. However, Maker’s Mark says that they are gluten-free, so we got that specific type of whiskey for that reason.
Sounds yummy. I will definitely try it when the weather gets warmer.
Awesome!
What? You two had cocktails without me? Ha ha! Hope you enjoyed them. xo
I had a couple sips…Kris enjoyed them most of all 🙂
