Landing Pages: What They Are and Why You Should Use Them

- April 3, 2013 | by April -

As an entrepreneur, there are certain tools that I use regularly that help me succeed.

Some of these tools increase my sales and make doing business online easier, and landing pages are one of these tools.

If you have no idea what landing pages are or how YOU can use them to increase your creative business success, you need to watch today’s video. You’ll see examples of landing pages and I divulge the specific software I use to create all of mine–including my sales pages.

Premise by Copyblogger Media is the software I use to create all my landing pages. Check it out right here.

Woohoo! Great info, April! I’m in the process of setting up an e-course and this info came in handy!

If you’re collecting emails from both your blog and landing pages, do you then have separate email lists in which you send different newsletters? Or, do you mix the two?

Do you also use the membership part of Premise as well for your courses?

      Thanks Jennifer!

I have about 30 different email lists. I set them up individually to know where people are coming from and what they signed up to receive. However, everyone receives the same weekly email newsletter. Every once in a while, I will email one of my lists separately. For instance, I have a list of people who signed up specifically to receive more information about my course, Blogging for Your Creative Business. I emailed those people about the course more than I emailed my main list. It comes in handy when you want to market to a specific group of people.

I don’t use the membership part. I used Wishlist Member for all my membership sites.

Great advice! I definitely prefer landing pages that are clean and unfussy. They make everything look more professional, plus it makes the call to action really stand out. I’m diggin’ these how-to videos from you, April. Thanks!

This was absolutely the video I needed to see this morning before I started researching this exact subject! I am also wondering what you use for membership courses.

Thanks for everything, April. I love your videos and getting your weekly emails! You rock!

Yay! I love when the timing is perfect!

I use Wishlist member for all my courses and I love it. It’s user-friendly and once you set it up once, it’s easy to do again and again if you have different sites.

Oh. I so NEEDED this! Your posts are so right on… Going to go check out Premise from CopyBlogger now (I made the switch to WP from blogger earlier this year, got a bit sidetracked and overwhelmed, and think this will come in handy to help me make sense of my new work and new blog…)

    Thanks!

Premise is FANTASTIC! I can’t recommend it enough. I’m so glad I have an easy way to create landing pages, because I’m technically challenged and anything that can make tech stuff easier is a winner in my book. Congrats on moving to WP! You’ll be super glad that you did in the long run.

That was awesome. I’ve been trying to redo my site….I was on hiatus for a while..long story..but when I came back I wanted to revamp my site/offerings/copy/etc. So one thing I know I want on there is landing pages, but I really have no earthly how to do that, so I was asking around. You’re the 4th or 5th person that’s been all about Premise. So I’m totally stoked to dig into that when I have funding start coming in!!!

Wow, amazing video. I totally understand about landing pages now. Such clarity! It’s really made me think about getting premise as well – I sell my 5 day detox online, but the system seems such a faff – premise seems to have all the bits and bobs that I didn’t realise you could even get but which are clearly MEGA useful!!
thanks so much for this brilliant resource,
    claire

Hi April, I just came back to your site to get to Premise through your link…purchasing today, finally! Woohoo! Working on my first, little introductory offering, so I am getting everything lined up. Just wanted to thank you for introducing me to it, and I think I might play around with the Membership part of it, too, to see how I like it. Wish me luck!! xo

When I initially commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now
each time a comment is added I get several emails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service? Thanks
    and more thanks!

It’s a plug-in, not my email service, so you will have to remove yourself which you can easily do at the bottom of any of those emails.
