Do you remember creamsicles–the delicious orange popsicles with the creamy vanilla middle? If they weren’t part of your childhood, I’m deeply sorry.
The downside of those yummy treats is that they aren’t healthy. When they say milk does the body good, they’re lying. The added sugar isn’t great for your middle, either. I was craving a creamsicle the other day and thought I’d attempt to make my own version in a smoothie. They turned out downright delicious.
Ingredients for two:
2 oranges or 3 tangerines, peeled {make sure you use some without seeds or remove the seeds}
1 vanilla bean, scraped
2/3 cup of almond milk
4-6 ice cubes
soy whipped cream {optional}
Directions:
Add the oranges, the scrapings of the vanilla bean, almond milk, and ice cubes to a blender and blend until smooth. Pour into glasses and place a dollop of soy whipped cream on top.
I remember Creamsicles! 🙂 This smoothie looks crazy good!
Yay!!! They are!
Wau!Delicious!
I can remember well this treat. In Spain orange juice + vanilla ice-cream is called ‘valencià ’
Thank you for this recipe transformation. It seems well!
