How to Start Your Week with Energy and Inspiration

How to Start Your Week with Energy and Inspiration

It’s just another manic Monday. I wish it were Sunday…

It’s the beginning of the week.

Your alarm clock blares. You hit the snooze button and crawl further under your warm sheets, pretending for 10 more minutes that it’s the weekend. Maybe you’re exhausted because you partied all weekend (you’re definitely too cool for me if you fit into that category) or your kid threw up in the middle of the night and it was your turn to change the sheets and cuddle him back to sleep or you couldn’t put down that thriller you started reading and stayed up till 3am to find out whodunit (does that happen to anyone else?).

Or maybe…you start out strong. You woke up 60 minutes earlier than normal to get in a 30-minute run. You listened to Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin while doing laps around your neighborhood and you’re excited about what you have planned for the week. But once you flop down at your computer, you get sucked into emails and social media and before you know it, Monday is almost over and you didn’t write 1,000 words or take new product photos or write copy for your upcoming product launch like you had planned.

Or if you’re one of the lucky ones, you wake up on Monday ready to tackle the week, because you love your work, you’ve mastered work/life balance and you’re so motivated you always get your to-dos done plus some. (If you fall into this crazy awesome category, you can skip this post.)

For the rest of us who sometimes struggle with motivation and inspiration, I’ve started a new series of videos called Monday Motivation.

Over the past five weeks, I’ve uploaded short videos to my YouTube channel at the start of the week with the purpose of giving you a boost of energy and motivation.

If you’ve missed them, you can catch up by watching the videos below and make sure you subscribe to my YouTube channel so you get notified each time a new video gets published, because I’m continuing this series until at least the end of the year.

Monday Motivation Episode 1: Intro

Monday Motivation Episode 2: Importance of Calendars

Monday Motivation Episode 3: Back to Basics

Monday Motivation Episode 4: How to Get Motivated

Monday Motivation Episode 5: Detrimental Stories

If there are any specific topics you’d like me to cover in this video series, leave them in the comments below.

And, if you’ve been following along with the video series so far, I’d love to know if it’s been helping.

How to stay motivated when you have a REALLY long to-do list, but all you want to do is something that’s not on your to-do list. 🙂 I have those days more often then I’d like. It’s like as soon as I write it down then I want to do anything but…

April, congratulations on your new video series. I enjoyed the first five and will look forward to more. You always provide great content, and your enthusiastic delivery is inspiring.

Like you, I have struggled with serious autoimmune issues for 20 years. While I was still working full time I had all kinds of excuses about exercise. Eleven years ago when I retired I had even more excuses because I developed more serious health problems including lung cancer, severe peripheral neuropathy, COPD/Emphysema, and a half dozen serious falls. I have now had more than 1,000 medical appointments since retiring.

The ETSY shop I opened in 2008 has been totally neglected, and the terrible photographs never replaced. The Volusion website I had exists no more, the 3 blogs I started have vanished, and $5,000 at retail of baby clothing inventory hangs in a closet. I said I am too old, too sick, too tired, too fat, and do not have enough time to begin again, but then you made me question myself.

While recovering from my most recent fall I went on line to Creative Live and watched
Make Your Creative Business Uniquely Irresistible. On another day I was able to watch 16 segments of your course on blogging. Whether or not my health will cooperate I cannot say, but I can say that you are an amazing young woman with excellent presentation skills and
marvelous information to share with your followers. YOU have inspired me to start over and do my best for as long as I can.

Thank you for being so generous with your time and knowledge. I remembered that I purchased your book but never took time to read it so that is on my to-do list going forward. I have been enjoying your progress for a number of years now, and you have evolved into a lovely, young, professional speaker and instructor whose photographs speak to my heart. I pray that your health will improve so that you can and will continue to do all the things you feel passionate about with great success.

Hi Marian! Thanks for the kind words (like always!). I’m so sorry to hear about all of the health issues you’ve had to deal with–I wouldn’t wish that on anyone. And, just from my own experiences, I know how health issues greatly impact so much including motivation and productivity and happiness and pretty much everything.

I love your positive attitude and I’m so glad that I could bring some positivity and encouragement to you.

I hope you enjoy my book and get so much out of it.

    Hi April,
Your Monday video was really motivational.Passion is not always so easily accessible, even when you are doing the very thing you are “passionate” about. When your motivation for working and progressing is gone you must have the discipline to take over the fight.
