Win a Scholarship (for You and a Friend) to Operation World Domination (Closed)

- February 20, 2017 | by April -

Pop quiz! (Don’t start sweating…this isn’t the kind of quiz you study for.)

  1. Do you chew your bottom lip and start to pace when you realize that you need to double your prices to actually earn a big enough profit to make your business worth running? And do you feel a little light-headed when you realize that you’d have to double THAT price to get into wholesale?
  1. Do you get that nauseating, please-don’t-make-me-be-a-grownup feeling on Sunday evenings because you have to wake up the next morning and go to a job that sucks all the energy out of you (and makes you wonder if your boss is really a dementor in disguise)?
  1. Do you have a business that’s doing okay, but you still feel like you’re missing something because you constantly have to hustle to keep doing just okay?

If you said yes to any of the above, I’ve got your solution.

Mayi Carles and I have created a program called Operation World Domination and before you start making excuses about not having enough time or money, hear me out.

OWD was built with you in mind: the entrepreneur who would rather create than promote her business, who would love to make $30,000 from her next launch or $150,000 this year (not millions and millions), who doesn’t want to run a team of 28 people but would love an assistant and to hire out certain projects like product photography or videography, who wants to figure out how to apply marketing concepts to HER type of business.

The creative who has trouble focusing and jumps from project to project, and still doesn’t have a flagship or signature product or service, who wishes she could find her perfect accountability partner, and who needs an intensive mastermind to GET. IT. DONE.

You might still be thinking that you don’t have the money to invest in this kind of program.

First, that thought comes from a place of scarcity and if you’re running your business with that mindset, it’s no wonder that you aren’t making the kind of money you want to be making.

Second, I’ve got some great news for you.

Mayi and I are offering a scholarship to one entrepreneur and the friend of her choice.

If you win, you’ll get everything included inside of Operation World Domination: 8 weekly mastermind calls, an invite to a private Facebook clubhouse, 1 year memberships to both Life is Messy Bootcamp and Sunday Society and the coolest mug in the galaxy.

Entries close on February 23rd at 12pm EST, so make sure you do it now! Don’t miss out on your chance to win a spot inside of Operation World Domination. The winner and winner’s friend will be announced on Friday, February 24th.

To enter:

1. Download the image above.

2. Post the image above on the social media platform of your choice (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest) with the caption:

I want to join #OperationWorldDomination with April and Mayi. Come join me at: www.joinOWD.com

You get major bonus points if you post it on multiple platforms (and those bonus points definitely make a difference when picking a winner).

3. In your caption or social media post, tag your friend and/or include the name of your friend that you want to go through Operation World Domination with, because it’s always better with a friend, right?

4. Tag us if applicable (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook). April is @blacksburgbelle and Mayi is @mayicarles

5. Comment below to let us know: where you posted the image and caption, the name of the friend that will also get a scholarship to Operation World Domination if you win, why you want to take Operation World Domination with that friend, and your favorite pizza topping…because pizza makes everything more fun.

***If you decide to join Operation World Domination before the winner is announced and you win the scholarship, we’ll simply refund your payment. Good luck!

Each year when Marie opens the doors to B-School, I get questions about why I joined B-School when I did.

There is ONE thing that pushed me over the edge from “maybe” to “YES YES YES,” and that one thing was doing it with my business bestie, Mayi Carles. We decided that we would do it together and keep each other accountable. We chatted on Skype each week to share what we were working on and made sure that we each completed our homework.

Even though this scholarship doesn’t have anything to do with B-School (it’s for Operation World Domination!), Mayi and I decided to offer the scholarship to a creative AND her friend, because doing this program with a good friend will make it more likely that you do the work and have a friend to bounce all your a-ha moments and ideas off of to get instant feedback.

Plus, we’re a pair. We make each other (and each other’s businesses) better. And, we’re hoping your friend does the same for you.

Hi Mayi and April! I have posted Mayis’s cute illustration on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram!! Yey! I would love my friend Lorena to join the Operation World Domination with me! We both want financial freedom, but we also think that we can do that by Helping, Inspiring and Empowering people along the way. We also both love sustainability (very frecuent topic in our lunch conversations:D) and believe in a different way of doing things, more ethical and respectful. So please pick this Brunette and Blonde Duo!
Favourite pizza topping? More cheese!! I Love a cheesy pizza! And I think Lorena would love Serrano Ham in hers! 😀

Grab an ice cold Heineken and read this to the tune of DON’T STOP ME NOW – Queen:

I’m Loanna. That same one. The one sending you guys emails about broken links and wondering if having you reply makes me get a whisk of your business acumen by osmosis. Yep, I know.

I posted the image and caption in all my social media accounts: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest – both personal and business accounts – loading inception of all of my follower’s minds (mwahahahahha) I also sent it to my family chat in whatsapp (not for the extra points… or maybe yes)

I became a “mommypreneur” by force and I’m so grateful for that. I used to have a conventional job, while single and child free. Once I got married and shortly after, pregnant, I lost my mojo to the people that I spent years, tears and fears defending and working hard for in heart, mind and soul.

So here I am… preparing myself and getting ready for showtime!!!!

I’m sarcastic, I’m edgy, I’m crazy, I’m very different and I will always appreciate the friends that has been by me in my lowest, darkest, scariest moments.

My friend is Annette Chan – Annette and I are up to HERE of working for others, helping them achieve their dreams while they ask us to fit into their organizations. I hate to dress up to defend the fact that I am smart enough. Ugh.

We are different. We are weirdos. So different that we are not even alike ourselves. We have been friends, teammates, confidants, best friends in bad times. In the worst times. And why not now? I want Annette to be my business partner in abundance. I guess she would say yes…??? I hope so 😛

She is honest. Results driven. Creative. Good. Nice. Makes me be a better person, professional and friend. In a very different way, we defend the same values and morals, and that makes us great together.

We are crazy. We are passionate. We are willing to change and be honest about our true self. We are ready. No excuses. We want to dominate world…. Don’t be scared. In a good way. Promesa.

We want to be successful by helping others to be successful. And happy.

To finish, of all 14 toppings (no kidding) that I put on my pizza last time I ordered, if I had to choose, it would be: BACON.

BTW… Annette and I hate Lord Voldemort and none of us can walk in high heel shoes

*** I bet Mayi is wondering where in tropical paradise you can put 14 toppings on your pizza

Woo hoo! I posted on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter. If I win, I’d like to take the course with Mihaela Turean. Just a few hours ago today, we were talking about our blogging plans. She wants to start a blog on family and healthy lifestyle and I just started my blog about a month ago, on the 14th of January. I’d be thrilled to join Operation World Domination because that’s what I’d like to do through my blog: world domination. Spread ideas that change the world.
All this while staying in my pajamas and eating my favourite pizza that has extra cheese, hot salami, pepperoni and maize. Yammy (My friend won’t join my pizza feast because she’s into healthy eating, but that’s ok – more pizza left for me ;))

I love the energy that you two give and I know that will only help us… I tagged all of them knowing that ONE of them is ready to take this leap with me, OR maybe they are ready to join on their own. Beautiful and talented ladies! I posted over on Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram.

As a creative (read: calligrapher, illustrator, actor, writer) who’s built an inconsistent business with one-off piece projects (we’re talking wedding envelopes, custom artwork, every now and then an out of the blue dream editorial client), it’s time to move on. Like, seriously move on. It’s time to finesse my brand and offerings, to make some consistent cash doing what I love, and to create a way to impact more people in a positive way through beautiful and provocative artwork.

Your language speaks to me, your message makes sense to me, and following your businesses, I can see that the proof is in the pudding. I’d love to join OWD, and I’d love to do it alongside one of my favorite people and creative partner in crime, Alexis Buryk. Alexis is a gorgeously talented photographer (currently shooting weddings in the NYC area) and writer. We went to both undergrad and grad school together, started our businesses at the same time, and now, a whole country apart, I would love to connect over business building in a fun and productive, creative way again.

Also, she deserves this so much.

Thank you for offering such a comprehensive course for creatives that’s at the same time thought and idea, and practical application driven. Cheers!

Ps. Veggies. All of them. And some goat cheese and pesto. Also roasted garlic. No red sauce. That’s my kind of pizza.

My favourite pizza topping… Erm I don’t have bread or cheese but I love a cauliflower pizza base with homemade tomato sauce with no cheese, cheese sauce made with sweet potato and topped with peppers and mushrooms.

I’ve posted in Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest, i tagged my friend Stefka Kahar- Simon, because we’re starting all over again from scratch in Germany. We have pretty similar situation; We come from Indonesia, we used to work together in a super-star hotel in a tropical island of God, known as Bali. She was in sales dept and i was in the design team. We both then got married to (two differents!) German guys and we moved in to Germany. First months was hard being an Asian in Europe, often i found myself sobbing in the corner of the room (not because i’m hungry!), because i didn’t feel the accomplishment as i had before back at home. To my surprise, Stefka also had the same feelings.

I think it’s all natural to feel that way. We’re now teaming up to be strong together with the hashtag #operationGERMANYdomination! 😀

P.s. The first ‘German’ things that my husband introduce to me is Beer and Frozen Pizzas. I found my revelation in Frozen Pizzas. There’s no such things in my life before. Genius…

I would absolutely love to participate in Operation World Domination with my jewelry business bestie & biz soulmate Tricia at JewelsbyTrish.com. ♥ I posted EVERYWHERE I could think of on BOTH of my businesses, because I think this would be an absolutely amazing opportunity for Trish and I to work together to take our mama-owned businesses to the next level. We are both ready to soar, and I think this would be the perfect place to grow our wings. We have been accountability partners for awhile now, and I think we would be be awesome students. We’re both very creative and incredibly ready to roll up our sleeves and do the work. Sometimes we just don’t know what that work is! So the mastermind would help us focus and become business bestie super successes. I think it would be an amazing business as well as personal journey.

The fact that it’s April and Mayi is completely the secret sauce! I love you ladies, and I would be so excited to work with you on making our businesses AWESOME! But of course…that adorable mug doesn’t hurt!

I was going crazy typing this on my phone so I will continue with my comment here from my laptop..
I’m leaving my “real life” job in a few weeks in order to work on what I’m really passionate about.

I hate dressing up as well, and if I was president, PJs would be the norm.

Aside from ALL my interests in specific fields, I’m absolutely obsessed with learning. I’m a big nerd and love to continue learning new things everyday. Hermione may be my long lost twin.

I’m also a night owl, and my brightest moments come to me at night; my most productive hours are from 9pm to 3am, which is completely incompatible with most “real life” jobs. I decided I’m no longer going to battle against my body and take advantage of it instead. I’m like Batman, I like to work while everybody sleeps (also because there is no one to distract me).

I’m currently being trained to become a Holistic Health Coach, Fitness Instructor and Nutrition Coach. I want to make an impact in the health care system and culture, move away from the magic-pill-to-cure-all-illnesses mentality and more towards a holistic approach. Medicine looks at the body like a machine, fixing parts that are broken. I like to see the body as a garden, where you need to cultivate, feed, and take care of every plant for it to be healthy. I want to educate, help and heal. I want to be like the Master of Death, but more like the Master of Wellness, with my three Lively Hallows: Nutrition, Exercise, and Mindfulness.

I feel like I need the support of people to help kick my butt and get my blog and biz off the ground. I struggle to lock down exactly how I want my blog to be and what to focus on. I jump from idea to idea. I need someone to grab my by the shoulders and shake some sense into me& help me figure out what I really want to do.

If I do in I will bring my friend Kath on this wild journey because she has just started her own business and could benefit from you both.

I posted the image & caption on my personal Facebook (facebook.com/MissMonet), business Facebook (facebook.com/ChristineMonetPhotography), Twitter (@miss_monet87), and Instagram (@christine_monet).

It’s kind of funny… lately, I’ve been really gung-ho about starting a new business. I used to do freelance photography but over the past few years I’ve lost some of my passion for the art, so I’ve been trying to brainstorm different biz ideas that resonate with where I’m at in my life right now. I was watching “Create Your Dream Career” with Michelle Ward, the ‘When I Grow Up’ life coach, on CreativeLive this past week and one of the homework assignments was to ask my friends and family members several questions about what they admired about me, what makes me unique, etc. My childhood best friend, Stefanie, responded back with a touching email and then ended the message telling me how she’s been struggling to pass the Bar Exam and that she didn’t even know if going into Law was really what she wanted to begin with. She mentioned in the email that she wanted to tap into her creative side (she’s such an amazing artist) and start an artsy business of some sort… and she wanted to know if I’d be interested in going into business with her! I was so surprised and happy to hear this because Stefi & I have been BFFs since Kindergarten (25 years and going strong!!), so the idea of being able to work with her in some way would be such an awesome opportunity and would bond us in a whole new way! The tricky part is her and I currently live in different states (I’m going to school in Utah while she’s living near her parents in California) so we can’t open up a brick & mortar shop at this time buuuut online businesses are where it’s at anyway, am I right?! 😉 So, we’re both excited about the idea of getting something up and running – and, of course, taking over the world!! 😉 – but we’re not sure how to do so (I guess we could binge-watch Pinky & the Brain episodes, but we’d rather learn from you two sassy ladies instead ^_~). I’ve been wanting to join B-School for a while now and I think if I can get my finances in order this will be the year I take the plunge. However, I don’t feel like it’s enough for us to just learn how to start and run a business. We want and *need* world domination!! So it would be such an incredible honor to win this scholarship and have our BFF business fantasy come true! ^-^ Will you be our fairy business godmothers? 🙂

My favorite pizza topping may sound gross to some people but I love it: Pepperoni & Pineapple!! ^_^ (Don’t hate on it until you’ve tried it! It’s seriously the perfect blend of sweet & savory. Mmmm)

The idea of joining such a creative group of women is super exciting. I’m at the point where I know what I’m capable of doing, but have no idea how to move forward and find clients. This would be an amazing opportunity 🙂 If I could have anything on a pizza it would be extra cheese, chicken, bacon and black olives…or maybe sausage and banana peppers…ahhh, I’m getting hungry!

We have been business buddies and sisters of the heart from the moment we met and have both struggled in taking our business to the next level where we are able to earn a sustainable living. We both have a passion for helping others and feel a calling to do what we do. As for pizza I can’t say what Miranda would like but I know I am down for sausage and crispy bacon with a thin crust and a cold soda on a hot day.
