My mother-in-law and I used to sell jewelry, fabric coiled bowls, ceramic yarn bowls, and more online and at craft shows. If you’re new to Blacksburg Belle, you may not know that it’s how I started out.
We had a pretty significant inventory left when I decided to focus most of my time on helping other creatives build their businesses. So, my mother-in-law suggested that we host a holiday sale at her house. We served appetizers and beverages including apple cider, eggnog, and tea while friends shopped for Christmas gifts.
We both thought it’d be a nice way to spend some time with friends and at the very least, indulging in spiked eggnog is always a good time. We weren’t expecting it to be so successful, especially since we haven’t sold any of our goodies in well over a year, but it was REALLY successful. I thought you might enjoy some photos from that day.
The only misstep we had was leaving the apple cider simmering on the stove while gabbing and helping friends with their purchases. It caramelized and burned! Oops. Everyone kept asking if we were baking a sweet potato casserole. At least it didn’t smell too bad.
