Help Me Pick New Glasses

- April 4, 2013 | by April -

It’s time for a new pair of glasses. I haven’t gotten any new ones in six years! My eyesight has basically stayed the same, so there really hasn’t been a need, but a girl should get a new pair of glasses every now and then, don’t you think? I may order two pairs, because I really like the two different styles below: the big nerdy ones and the rectangular, more sophisticated ones. What do you think?

All five pairs are from Warby Parker. What’s your favorite? Or, what’s your top two favorite?

Thanks in advance for your input!

Fashionology: Color Block Dress

My husband gave me this dress for Christmas. Before you say that he has good taste, I must confess that I picked it out. It’s better than getting something you don’t like, right?

Fashionology: Rainy Day

Rain7b

It’s a rainy day here in Blacksburg, VA. When the weather is gross, I like to layer and wear super comfy clothes. But, I also still want to look cute, you know? I call this my “Little Red Riding Hood” outfit even though the hood isn’t red–the shoes are!

Fashionology: Bicycle and Tulle

- January 3, 2013 | by April -

GrayDress1b

I drooled over this gray dress for months before purchasing it. {Erin Giles can attest to this. She wore it to RHH Live and I told her that I was envious over and over.} When it went on sale, I didn’t hesitate a second longer. And, I just picked up these patent faux-leather black flats from Target for $10.

I have a sweet tooth for tulle and lace, so I paired this gray dress with a top with a lace back. I feel kinda childish in this outfit, but I think that makes it even more fun.

I made the elephant necklace I’m wearing. Watch out for the DIY–it’s coming up soon!

LaceSweatshirt7b

This is my “day before Christmas Eve” outfit. I wanted to be comfortable and cute while finishing up handmade gifts. My husband said that my headband borders on ridiculous, but I like it and that’s all that matters, right?

Fashionology: Professor Plum

- December 10, 2012 | by April -

This is the beginning of a new blog column on Blacksburg Belle, Fashionology. Let’s chat about how much I love fashion….thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiis much. That’s a lot–I know.

Every once in while, I’ll share one of my favorite outfits with you. I recently purchased this purple dress from Modcloth. I love shopping online at Modcloth, because I’m obsessed with clothes that have a vintage style AND they hardly ever sell anything with real leather. The boots I’m wearing in this picture are completely designed with man-made materials. Holla for animal-friendly boots that fit perfectly!

If you’ve ever flipped through an Anthropologie catalog, you know that most of the time the models look super serious. So, whenever I strike a “looking into the distance” pose, I call it my “Anthropologie look.” During the photo shoot with Mayi in Panama, I would say, “let’s do our Anthropologie look” and we would immediately crack up and then look off into the distance with our lips sorta pursed.
