I’ve knit a cowl in the round before, but I’ve never tackled a hat until now! I can’t wait to see how it turns out.
Knitted Christmas Present in the Making
Knitted Honey Cowl: Mom Style
My husband and I traveled to Richmond for some family time this past weekend. Last Thursday was my mom’s birthday, and I knitted her a cowl for one of her presents. Like many moms, she loves the handmade stuff the most, especially since I’ve gotten pretty good at it.
I talked her into a mini photo shoot to show off the cowl I knitted for her. My dogs couldn’t help but join in.
I knitted one of these for myself back in February. You can find the pattern here on Ravelry.
This Week In My Craft Studio: Knitted Clutch
One of my creative goals has been to move past knitting scarves and try other stuff. So far this year, I’ve knitted fingerless gloves, a cowl, and now, a clutch! I think this is my favorite out of all of them. And, this was the first knitting pattern I developed on my own.
First Knitted Project of the Year: Fingerless Gloves
In the past week, I re-learned how to purl and made these fingerless gloves. They took me three days to complete, and I only worked on them in the evenings while we watched television. I forgot how calming knitting can be, and I’ve reignited my love.
I learned how to make these gloves through a video workshop on Creative Bug. If you want to learn how to knit, I highly recommend the workshops on this site {they are so easy to follow, because they teach you step by step via video}…and they have tons of other workshops like embroidery, sewing and mixed media workshops. The instructor videos are incredibly inspiring. I’ve watched them all twice. And, I’m soooooo glad I signed up for a membership. It’s completely worth it.
A Work in Progress: Knitted Clutch
I picked my knitting needles back up after about a year long break. I grew tired of knitting scarf after scarf, and I only knew the knit stitch. So many more possibilities open up when you learn how to purl.
In the evenings over the past week, I’ve knitted while my husband and I relax and watch a little television before bed. I’m close to finishing a pair of fingerless gloves, and I’ve started working on this knitted clutch. I’ll show more pictures when I finish.
