LRV of Sherwin Williams Mega Greige

Sherwin Williams Mega Greige has an LRV of 37.

A paint’s LRV refers to the level at which it reflects both natural and artificial lights. It also indicates the paint’s brightness, with lighter ones having higher LRVs and darker ones having lower LRVs.

Experts generally regard 63 – 65 as the LRV sweet spot because paint colors with these values aren’t too dark, and they don’t easily wash out in the presence of bright lights.

With an LRV of 37, Mega Greige falls on the darker side. While this limits its flexibility and suitable pairings, its neutral allows for more options than other regular dark paint colors.

Is It a Warm or Cool Color?

Sherwin Williams Mega Greige is a warm color. The gray and beige components are mostly responsible for its temperature.

On the other hand, Mega Greige also has warm undertones, which can contribute depending on the lighting in whichever space you choose to use it.

That said, you generally want to avoid using Mega Greige in space with little lighting as it might come out too dull.

What Are The Undertones?

A strong neutral can limit a color’s undertones, which is true for grays like Mega Greige. Although it has an undertone that can alternate between violet and brownish-red, the color will not flash into them readily.

This feature allows Sherwin Williams Mega Greige to function as a stable color for spaces that need a color that won’t lean into its undertones easily.

How Does Light Affect Sherwin Williams Mega Greige?

Sherwin Williams Mega Greige has an LRV of 37, making it a medium dark paint color. As such, it works best in spaces with lots of natural or artificial light. Using this color in rooms without enough lighting will make the space appear dull or too dark.

However, you can always add artificial lighting to the space if you really want to use the paint color there. This way, you get to use your preferred paint color while still getting the right vibe regardless of natural lighting.

Also, Sherwin Williams Mega Greige has a stable neutral and doesn’t lean into its undertones readily. This feature allows the paint color to maintain its look, even in the presence of bright light.

Final Thoughts

Sherwin Williams Mega Greige offers a naturally neutral appearance for both small and large spaces. The paint color can also work well in both interior and exterior applications.

Unlike popular grays like Sherwin Williams Agreeable Gray, SW Mega Greige does not have a wide range of pairable colors.

However, the paint color will always deliver breathtaking results when paired with relevant colors like the ones I have spoken about in other sections in this post.

Whether you want a color that can tolerate a significant degree of light without washing out or you want a darker warm neutral, Sherwin Williams Mega Greige is an excellent choice for you.
